Reverse Camera Settings Guide for Toyota and Subaru Conversion Kits

This guide explains how to adjust the reverse camera display and configure the dynamic parking guidelines on your Hamilton Toyota or Subaru Conversion Kit.

Adjusting the Reverse Camera Display

You can switch between small-screen mode and full-screen mode to change how the reverse camera image appears on your Hamilton display.

Step 1: Activate the Reverse Camera

  1. Start the vehicle.
  2. Shift the vehicle into Reverse (R).
  3. Wait for the reverse camera image to appear on the Hamilton screen.

Step 2: Switch to Small-Screen Mode

  1. With the reverse camera image visible, tap the resolution icon in the right corner of the screen.
  2. The camera display will switch to small-screen mode.

Step 3: Return to Full-Screen Mode

  1. While the reverse camera is active, tap the same resolution icon.
  2. The camera image will return to full-screen mode.

Step 4: Verify the Display

  1. Shift out of Reverse.
  2. Shift back into Reverse.
  3. Confirm that the camera displays in your selected mode.

Important Notes:

  • Changes take effect immediately; no reboot is required.
  • This setting changes the camera's display layout, not its actual video resolution or image quality.
  • The display adjustment described above is documented for the Toyota 4Runner Conversion Kit interface. Controls may vary by vehicle, so verify that this feature is available on your specific Toyota or Subaru kit before following these steps.

Adjusting Dynamic Reverse Camera Lines

Dynamic reverse camera lines provide a visual guide to help you judge the vehicle's path while reversing. You can adjust their angle, spacing, position, and appearance to better align them with your camera view.

Step 1: Open the Trajectory Line Adjustment Menu

  1. Start the vehicle and shift into Reverse (R).
  2. Once the reverse camera image appears, tap Settings in the bottom-left corner of the screen.
  3. Select Trajectory Line Adjustment.

Step 2: Adjust the Dynamic Lines

The trajectory adjustment menu includes several settings that control the appearance and position of the guidelines.

Angle

Adjusts the angle of the guidelines around their lower pivot point. Use this setting to change how the lines extend toward the top of the camera image.

Calculate Offset

Adjusts the spacing between the upper corners of the guidelines. Use this setting to change how far apart the lines appear near the top of the image.

Draw Offset

Leave unchanged.

Translate Offset

Adjusts the overall spacing of the guidelines. Make small adjustments and check the image to see how the lines move.

Canvas Rotate

Rotates the guideline display. Leave this setting at 0 unless rotation is specifically needed.

Red Line Adjustment

Changes the position of the red distance guideline. Adjust it to reposition the red line within the camera image.

Left/Right Translation

Moves the guidelines horizontally across the screen. If the camera is mounted slightly off-center or the guidelines appear shifted to one side, use this setting to align them with the image.

Step 3: Restore the Default Settings

If your adjustments make the guidelines appear incorrect, select Default Values to restore the original settings.

Step 4: Turn the Guidelines On or Off

Use the designated button in the trajectory adjustment menu to turn the dynamic guidelines on or off.

Step 5: Check Your Adjustments

  1. Keep the vehicle stationary while making adjustments.
  2. Check the camera image after each change.
  3. Confirm that the guidelines appear appropriately positioned relative to the vehicle and the camera view.

Important Safety Notes

  • The guidelines are a visual aid and may not perfectly represent the vehicle's actual path, width, or distance from obstacles.
  • Always check your surroundings and use your mirrors in addition to the reverse camera.
  • Make camera adjustments while the vehicle is stationary.
  • If the guidelines appear significantly misaligned, check the camera's physical position and alignment before making extensive software adjustments.
  • Available settings and display behavior may vary depending on the vehicle and Conversion Kit version.
